Frequently Asked Questions

Are you missing one or more of your teeth? Regular brushing, flossing, and preventive checkups allow some people to maintain their natural smiles for a lifetime. However, sometimes our teeth just can’t keep up with our busy lifestyles!

If you’ve lost a tooth (or teeth) due to injury or decay, dental implants could be the right solution to help repair your oral health and rejuvenate your smile.

It is always our goal at Sunnyside Dental Center to preserve the natural state of your mouth. When we cannot save your tooth or your tooth is already missing, dental implants can preserve bone and facial contours, prevent the shaving down of natural teeth, and restore the look and function of natural teeth better than bridges or removable options.

Modern tooth restoration has never been better! Dental implants are titanium posts implanted in your jaw that act as artificial “tooth roots”, permanently anchoring your new tooth, bridge or denture. Each implant is topped with a dental crown, providing a chewing surface and restoring the appearance of the missing tooth.

The procedure and healing phase are relatively painless and dental implants can be an excellent and predictable long term solution for patients suffering with tooth loss. Our two implant dentists: Dr. Evan Johnson and Dr. Jeff Hoover all have completed advanced dental implant education. Experience matters when it comes to the success of your dental implants!

At Sunnyside Dental Center, our success rate is excellent and we do fantastic, conservative implant work – from replacing single teeth, to replacing multiple ones with completely implant supported bridges and dentures.

Our digital and CT-guided workflow result in the correct placement of your implant with optimal aesthetics from start to finish with little to no discomfort and faster healing times.

We perform the majority of our dental implant surgeries in-house at our convenient Idaho Falls location so you don’t have to worry about being sent to another office or specialist.

Even if you have been told you are not a candidate for dental implants by your dentist, our experienced providers can often make it work when others can’t, so don’t hesitate to call us and schedule your dental implant consultation!

Each patient has a unique mouth and set of needs, but the procedure for dental implant placement generally takes about an hour for one implant and up to three hours for multiple implants. At Sunnyside Dental Center, we offer a variety of sedation dentistry options for our patients.

After anesthesia has been applied, your dental implant surgeon will make a small incision in the gum tissue to reveal the bone and insert the implant. The length of healing time post-surgery varies for each patient. Following the first healing phase, Dr. Johnson or Dr. Hoover will place a support post (also called an abutment) on the dental implant. Once it has been determined that your gum tissue has healed and your dental implants are ready to be completed, your dentist will finish the process by fitting a crown to your dental implant.

The simple answer to how much dental implants cost is this: it depends. Just like any surgery, there are numerous factors that can influence the cost of dental implants. We can provide you an accurate estimate after a consultation with our dental implant team. Considerations include:

  • The quality, amount, and location of bone. If you require bone grafting, the total costs associated with your implants will be higher.
  • The number of teeth that need to be replaced and the type of dental implant that will be used.
  • Dental insurance. Some insurances cover only parts of implant treatment, or have a waiting period for eligibility.

If you’re concerned about the cost of dental implants, call our Idaho Falls dental practice to schedule a free consultation. We’ll take the time to determine whether you’re a good candidate for implants, and discuss all of your financial options with you.
